# Ben Glisan: Enron treasury and the Raptor plea

- Also known as: Ben F. Glisan, Jr.

**Question.** What did Glisan’s Raptor plea establish?

**Answer.** Glisan succeeded McMahon as treasurer and participated in the Raptors. His September 2003 guilty plea resulted in a five-year sentence.

## Roles and the dated record

- Analysis: Glisan’s case role combined treasury responsibilities, work on the Raptors and a Southampton investment. The Powers committee criticised his accounting work but qualified its Chewco assessment because he declined to be interviewed: it could not speak with certainty about his knowledge of the consolidation facts. [s-doc13]
- Analysis: His guilty plea supplied a more specific account of Talon/Raptor I. Nominal outside capital of $30 million was to be returned with profit through a $41 million put-option payment before it bore the intended risk. Glisan pleaded guilty to conspiracy on 10 September 2003 and received 60 months, with forfeiture. The plea described Talon specifically; the other Raptor vehicles had distinct legal and capital arrangements. [s-doc33] [s-doc13]
