# Jeffrey McMahon: Enron treasury and CFO roles

**Question.** How did McMahon’s Enron roles change?

**Answer.** McMahon served as treasurer before Glisan and became CFO after Fastow’s October 2001 removal. His later SEC case concerned distinct earlier transactions.

## Roles and the dated record

- Analysis: McMahon was part of Enron’s treasury and finance leadership before becoming CFO in the final weeks before bankruptcy. The Powers inquiry recorded a disputed March 2000 conversation in which he said he warned Skilling about pressure associated with LJM. The report did not resolve all differences between their accounts. [s-doc147] [s-doc13]
- Analysis: In June 2007 McMahon agreed to settle SEC allegations concerning the Nigerian barge transaction and rating-agency disclosures. Without admitting or denying the allegations, he accepted an injunction, five-year officer-and-director bar and $300,000 in combined disgorgement, interest and penalty. The release said court approval was still required; its accounting suspension allowed reapplication after three years. These terms were a distinct resolution of his case. [s-doc147]
